While Doc has been more of a person who gets to know the audience and interacts with them in more personal ways. However, recently I studied the Zarrow shuffle outlined in Gary Plants manuscript and think it is a much improved handling. This video is very good for seeing the general mechanics. I've noticed that Bill has had a bit of BANG BANG BANG effect meaning that the tricks go by quick and are entertaining because it's a shock right after another one. Bill Malones 'Sam the Bellhop' video was the place I started for learning the Zarrow shuffle. THey both have a good presentation and they both have a good handling. It's a strong arguement over Doc and Bill's routines. I just figure that it's better to be doing that rather than sitting there like an oaf. The rest just use a normal deck of card but Sam the Bellhop routine. I want to purchase one, but I dont know anything about them. I recently saw some video of Bill Malones on the Loose dvds. He sold his version through the Ireland Magic Co. Filmed live at Rebel’s Rock Pub in Hamilton Ontario in front of an unsuspecting audience. Walk Off The Earth covers twenty Beatles songs from 1962 to 1970 in chronological order. It was popularized by Frank Everhart and was the first trick he learned (although it didnt really include any magic). He knew the story and could perform it, he just threw those false cuts and shuffles in there to practice them. This tape uncovers Malone’s original dynamics that make the effect flow.Totally! And that's exactly what Bill Malone did too. That was a new idea! Over the years, he refined it and it became his signature piece.Įventually he was asked to perform it on the November ’94 TV show, “World Greatest Magic.” His electrifying performance on this show was destined to open golden doors of opportunity, and Bill shuffled off to the bank!Īfter seeing Bill’s performance, other magicians have attempted to teach this trick, but they missed the essential ingredients. In fact, other story routines such as “Jack goes to Town”, as published in “Scarne on Card Tricks”, were already in the literature.īill learned the Sam the Bellhop story and stack as shown to him by Mike Pappas of Chicago and he immediately added expert blind shuffles and cuts to it, thereby making magic out of an amusing vignette. This is a great story card trick made famous by Bill Malone. It was not really a trick but an amusing interlude such as “Troublewit” or “Rocky the Raccoon” In other words, it was not supposed to fool anybody and it was not a new idea. Hey, were RT Magic, and this is our performance of Sam the Bellhop. This was a stunt in which the magician tells a story while turning over cards from the deck, the cards matching the words in the narrative.
